Communication Training Program
A good communication training program is a significant investment. It doesn't have to be a billion-dollar investment, either. You can get started with a relatively inexpensive plan that could lead to a very profitable business.
Have you heard of the telephone sales team? You probably haven't heard of a telephone sales training program. There are reasons for this. A telephone sales training program is not as easy to get started with as the office telephone training program.
A telephone sales team is a group of telephone sales people who meet every day to talk about sales. Sometimes these meetings last just an hour or two. But most often they run longer.
The meetings are scheduled so that the sales team can use the time for selling. As a member of the team, you're in a very useful position. But there's no point in sitting around talking for hours on end if nobody's going to buy anything. You need an effective communication training program.
In a telephone sales team meeting, there are several things you want to keep in mind. Some of them are listed here.
o Everyone in the meeting needs to know your short address. Because you might be on the phone with the company you're selling to at the same time, it's helpful to give your sales message up front.
o Remember that you'll probably have to introduce yourself to other members of the telephone sales team meeting. Don't be too formal. Bring a memo with you that summarizes your introductory message.
o Be sure to communicate with the other members of the group about the types of customers you are interested in. This will save you a lot of time in the future. When you explain what types of customers you're looking for, you'll find that you're less likely to be considered a "crank."
o Remember that the most important thing is that you always make it clear to the others that you're trying to sell something. Be positive, tell them what you're selling, and make it as easy as possible for them to buy. Don't give the impression that you're trying to sell them.
o Consider asking your customer's perspective on the problem. The more you can learn about your customer's situation, the more likely you'll be to offer advice that will help him solve his problem.
o Always speak from your point of view. Don't use a sales pitch in an attempt to convince them of a viewpoint that isn't really your own.
A good communication training program will definitely go a long way toward getting your business up and running. And your customers will thank you for it.
